rav-michel-yehudah-lefkowitzOn Monday, as reported exclusively here on Matzav.com, thousands joined the national P’eylim / Lev L’Achim movement at its annual convention which brought thousands of  p’eylim and bnei Torah from all across Eretz Yisroel to Bnei Brak for a day of training, camaraderie and inspiration.

The high-point of the day was the special session where scores of the leading roshei yeshiva join with the elder gedolei Yisroel to show their solidarity with Lev L’Achim and hear the call to arms which is renewed every year at this time.

The question in the minds of many of those present at the massive Hechalei Malchut Hall in Bnei Brak was: Where was Rav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh L’Tzeirim, who was supposed to be in attendance? Rav Michel Yehudah was conspicuously absent from the event, even though he participates in every year. The dais was graced by Rav Chaim Kanievsky, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Nissim Karelitz, Rav Gershon Edelstein and others, but not Rav Michel Yehudah.

Rumors began to spread, with people saying that Rav Michel Yehudah was not well. Other claims were made as well.

It turns out that a few hours before the event, upon returning home, Rav Michel Yehudah tripped and fell, hurting himself. He was thus unable to attend the massive Lev L’Achim event. We are told that, at the moment, Rav Michel Yehudah is feeling better and is recovering.

  1. I just spoke to the Lev L’Achim office in New York and they told me that Rav Michel Yehudah was scheduled to speak as was Rav Wosner.

Both of these z’kainim were unable to come at the last minute; Rav Michel Yehudah due to a broken rib suffered in a fall and Rav Wosner due to the lingering effect of a burn suffered at biur chametz on erev Pesach.

May both of these venerable ziknei ha’Eidah be granted a complete refua and continue to lead us till we greet Mashiach!
