wikileaksWhistleblowing website WikiLeaks has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by a Norwegian politician. Snorre Valen, a member of the Norwegian coalition government’s Socialist Left Party, has nominated the website, saying it is a gauge of transparency in the world.

He says jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo won the Nobel Peace Prize last year for his struggle for human rights, democracy and freedom of speech in China.

Mr Valen says those are the very same values WikiLeaks is committed to globally.

He says Wikileaks’ recent accomplishment is the role it has played in the recent Tunisian revolution.

Wikileaks’ Australian founder Julian Assange is currently on bail in Britain fighting extradition to Sweden, where he faces allegations of assault.

  1. With a name like Snorre, he is obviously sleeping through all the problems that Assange is causing. Assange may cause wars, not peace.
