It has been revealed that not a single 8th grader at the I Promise School LeBron in Akron, Ohio, founded by LeBron James, has passed their state math test over the past three years.

The school, which was launched with great fanfare in 2018, promising to bring a new approach to education in LeBron’s hometown, is now facing scrutiny over its unmet promises.

Members of the Akron school board have begun questioning whether LeBron James’ commitment to education was genuine or merely an attempt to bolster his philanthropic reputation. Recent test scores have indicated a lack of substantial academic achievements at the I Promise School.

The Ohio Department of Education has also identified issues with the school. Specifically, two significant student subgroups, namely Black students and those with disabilities, are testing in the bottom 5% in the state, necessitating targeted intervention.

Akron school board President Derrick Hall expressed disappointment in the school’s performance, given the resources provided to support it. Similarly, Keith Liechty-Clifford, the Akron School District’s director of school improvement, conveyed his discouragement with the situation.

The school’s website highlights the “I Promise Method,” emphasizing the importance of education as a driving force for positive change. However, there is growing concern that the expected transformation and improvement in the lives of inner-city students and families have not been realized.

LeBron James’ foundation had received media acclaim for its ambitious school funding initiative. Despite this, it was revealed that a significant portion of the school’s expenses still relies on government funding, with over 75% of the funding coming from public sources.

Moreover, the school campus continues to face challenges related to inner-city crime. Last year, a tragic incident involving a teen being beaten to death occurred in the school’s parking lot.

In an effort to address the school’s poor test scores, the Ohio Department of Education plans to inject additional state-funded resources into the I Promise school. The Akron School District has also appointed a new principal, Stephanie Davis, who expressed optimism and determination to improve student achievement.

While some criticize LeBron James’ foundation for the school’s shortcomings, Board President Derrick Hall emphasized that it is the school officials’ responsibility to ensure academic success and not the foundation’s role to educate the students.

  1. All this duffus knows how to do is put a ball in a net. Just because one can do that, doesn’t make them anything special that one should look up to or take their advice.

  2. Lebron James is unsuccessful.

He jades the freedom that so many want.

Good vacant day in his eyes.

  3. My first comment is Where is Yaffed when you need them? Second, Blaming Lebron for a failing school he supports is like blaming the philanthropist whose name sits on some yeshiva building a yeshiva for a problem that yeshiva may have.

  4. I have mixed reactions to this report. On the one hand, did anyone really think that the velts-chochom Lebron would really produce anything worthwhile? It was designed to be a woke school for the most nidrik amongst students, so you got what you asked for. On the other hand, though, I’m surprised that they’re actually measuring success and failure of a school program by test grades, especially in math. I would have thought it would rate very high, because of the success of its trans / gay indoctrination programs. So there’s a silver lining here…

  5. Reading , math , and other basics are not important. Only gender studies, looting, and abortion rights are. But if the ” hasidim” are not teaching the garbage, that’s what bothers them…….

  6. Just goes to show, no matter how much money you throw into the toilet, it still all goes down the drain. Have a bunch of Neanderthals in charge of educating children, they will come out with the knowledge of a bunch Neanderthals. They are good at hunting for food, usually from defenseless people and can typically count on their fingers.

It never ends…dysfunctional black culture (75% out of wedlock births, stigma of “acting white” if you strive to learn, etc) and inherently lower IQ’s of Blacks (80-85) versus Whites, Asians and Jews (average 100, 105 and 112, respectively) are never addressed or admitted to. And what’s their solution? ALWAYS THE SAME–throw more of the taxpayers money at the problem (to assuage their own consciences), and it ALWAYS FAILS.
