Channel 13 reporter Yoely Brim revealed that three of the yeshiva’s talmidim declared their intention to enlist in the Israeli army, sparking an urgent gathering at the yeshiva on Tuesday.
Two of the students are reportedly planning to enter the IDF’s “Kokod” track, a program geared toward tech and development roles, while the third is likely heading into a combat division.
The news sent shockwaves through the yeshiva. During the hastily convened gathering, Rosh Yeshiva Rav Daniel Wolfson addressed the student body and voiced his disapproval of the enlistments.
He stated that the army does not currently offer frameworks that genuinely safeguard a chareidi way of life, and he expressed deep anguish and heartbreak over the students’ choice to leave the yeshiva.

There are bummy bochurim all over who want to get out of yeshiva environment and anxious to enlist in the IDF.
Those are two very different problems. One is their lack of success in yeshiva, may Hashem please help them and all His children. The other is that the IDF is shmad and much more, and therefore no place for any Jew. Jews belong in Jewish environments only, not the IDF.
The other is that the IDF is shmad and much more, and therefore no place for any Jew – No one believes this anymore. Just stop. It’s Lashon Hara.
Berl, Don’t call them Bummy! The fact is that not everyone is cut out to sit for 10-14 hours a day. The fact also is that the army needs more enlists. Forget the stupid Bagatz and their insane laws and attitude towards the Chareidim and Forget Nancy Pelosi’s twin sister, the jobs need to get done and it’s not fair for ALL Chareidim to sit idly back and let others do it all. It’s also not fair that Yeshiva bachurim will be sitting on the beaches come Bein Hazmanim and the rest have to work in the most difficult conditions. There’s got to be some give. Don’t call these guys bums. They’re great kids.
Frum Yidden must put pressure on the IDF and other governmental authorities to make it really feasible for bnei Torah to be able to serve in the army without compromising their keeping of Torah and mitzvot.
The IDF has already went above and beyond and made a totally religious Brigade! Not just a unit or battalion, a whole brigade dedicated to their success and sensitivity to their needs.
