The COVID 19 infection rate continues to rise today with the worldwide total hitting the half million mark moments ago.
The jump in cases is astonishing as the numbers were at only 300,000 just four days ago.
Meanwhile, the total deaths due to the coronavirus is just over 23,300, up 824 from the day before. Compared to the data on confirmed positives the fatality rate is at nearly 4 and a half percent.
Health officials implore everyone to remain quarantined and practice social distancing in the desperate attempts to flatten the curve and keep the hospitals within capacity.
