Yemen Asks UN for Ground Intervention

yemenYemen’s mission to the United Nations asked for international ground invention Wednesday to help local supporters of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi battle off the Houthi rebels after weeks of war.

In a letter to the UN Security Council, Yemen’s Ambassador to the U.N. urged “the international community to quickly intervene by land forces to save Yemen, especially Aden and Taiz.”

The letter also called human rights groups to document the “barbaric violations against a defenseless population.” Nearly 120 people were killed in Yemen on Wednesday during clashes, including 40 civilians who were attempting to flee fighting in Aden. Read more at Al Jazeera.
