The New York City Police Department’s Commissioner, Jessica S. Among the appointees is Yisroel Hecht, a Lubavitcher Chossid hailing from Crown Heights, who will now take on the role of Deputy Commissioner of Information Technology.
In his new capacity as Deputy Commissioner of Information Technology, Yisroel Hecht brings decades of expertise in overseeing and advancing critical technological initiatives. Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Commissioner of Infrastructure Management at the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation. Over his 25-year career, Hecht has become a leading figure in innovation and system modernization, particularly in environments requiring robust and resilient operations.

During the global COVID-19 crisis, Hecht’s contributions at DoITT played a pivotal role in maintaining essential city functions and ensuring New Yorkers had access to the resources they needed during unprecedented times. Known for delivering secure and scalable IT solutions, Hecht’s leadership has consistently enhanced public safety and operational efficiency. His upcoming responsibilities will involve driving significant technological advancements to enable the NYPD to better protect the public and ensure safety across all city neighborhoods.
