You Can’t Make This Up: Stork Runs Up Phone Bill Upon Migrating 3,700 Miles

2

A Polish environmental charity was stuck with a phone bill of thousands of dollars after a Sudanese individual got hold of a GPS tracker placed on Kajtek, an adult white stork that had just migrated 3,700 miles to Africa from Europe, and used its SIM card to make 200 phone calls costing $2,700.

White storks fly over the Strait of Gibraltar into the Sahara Desert and follow heavy thermal systems that enable them to drift effortlessly down the Nile River to African countries including Kenya, Sudan and South Africa.
