According to a report, the US government has halted funding for the controversial Wuhan Institute of Virology, which has been under scrutiny as a possible source of the COVID-19 outbreak. The decision was made after the institute failed to provide the required documents regarding safety and security.

The White House, under President Biden, took this action on Monday, as stated in a memo obtained by Bloomberg News.

The Department of Health and Human Services has informed the Wuhan lab of their determination and intends to completely terminate any future funding to the facility. After conducting a review since September, the agency found that the lab does not comply with federal regulations. An HHS spokesperson stated that this measure ensures that the Wuhan Institute of Virology will not receive any further federal funding.

This funding decision comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and China regarding the lack of transparency from the communist regime concerning the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic. While two federal agencies, including the FBI, believe that the virus originated from a lab leak, five others assert that it spread naturally from an infected animal. The CIA and other agencies have not taken a definitive stance. The global death toll from this deadly virus has reached 7 million people.

The Wuhan lab has not yet responded to the US federal officials since the decision was made to cut future funding, which would have included new contracts, grants, and other transactions. It is noteworthy that the Wuhan Institute has not received any funding from the National Institutes of Health since 2020, as reported by Bloomberg.
