Speaking to TheMarker, Bnei Brak mayor Chanoch Zeibart said that thanks to the aggressive collection of city taxes, the planned construction of more businesses, shops, industry and homes, and the contribution of government aid matching city rates in poorer cities, 92-year-old Bnei Brak will transform from being Israel’s second poorest town into becoming a wealthy metropolis. The city already has funds to finance cultural programs such as the town’s first municipal library and musical and theatrical programs for children.

A master plan authorized last month approved the construction of a complex of forty-story office buildings at the city limits. This will increase the city’s business district fivefold from its present 6.5 million square feet to 33 million square feet.
