G&G claims to have certification from The Shatnes Laboratory that their garments are free of Shatnez. Isn’t this trustworthy? In fact they have a certificate of such hanging in public view!
i am totally confused. who is manufacturing bekeshes, whpo even knows what they are besides frum yiddin? dont we have the right to assume they are kosher? why would it occur to anyone to test a bekeshe for shatnez?
Clothing companies manufacturer clothing outside of the U.S. Bekeshes are manufactured in Hungary and other Eastern European countries. It is quite possible, follow the $$$$, that the materials used are compromised. Never assume – you know how that goes.
Shatnez issues? Shatnez concern? What does that mean exactly? If there would be such content in, say, the should pad, would that make the garment assur to wear? Or would it then be a machlokes? If it would be a machlokes, are we mechuyav to check on the safek that this is present in a case that if it would be, it would be a safek issur?
clothing is manufactured outside of america? what kind of an excuse is that? just as we rely on kashrus organizations to be responsible for food manufactured outside of this country–and such foods that are being served in our restaurants and by our caterers–we dont ask for a teudat hechsher each time we enter a food establishment–, we have a right to assume that if we purchase a religious garment from a religious store/manufacturer, that the item is kosher
Aha! 90% percent of Willi oilam wears bekeshes, so they don’t want to spoil it for their neighbors & friends. In BP, where bekeshes are not so prevalent, plus, litwishe oilam are not afraid of truth, they will tell you to be careful.
If he means the Williamsburg lab on Lee Ave., then it is no surprise that they deny of any problem. After all, they seem to have given some kind of hashgacha to some bekeshes. I would be surprised to learn, that the Williamsburg lab on Lee Ave. have sent anyone down to China or Hungary to check on the bekeshes at the production. Based on the Chasam Sofer that is quoted in the alert, it seems like one would have to test his bekeshe for shatnez.
The hanhagah to wear clothes w/o any wool to avoid any issues with shaatnez, is found in the Chochmas Adam.
That is the reason for bekesheh and the reason for Turkish Taleisim for no linen grows in Turkey.

The manufacturers aren’t heimishe yidden with beard and peyos learning a daf during breaks. They’re probably made in China.

The title seems to indicate that Shatnez has been found when the information provided doesn’t say that!!!
G&G?, They are putting in the non-shatnez labels in China.
The Shatnez lab says, it’s UNAUTHORIZED those labels.
It’s consumer fraud, they should be sued in Federal Court for Consumer Fraud, It’s treble damages.
Some clarity please!

I called the lab and asked
They didn’t say its actual shatnez they said it’s a concern and you should check your stuff
While these issues are sorted out, and the offending parts removed, how is one supposed to display his heimishkeit in public?
This Is so ridiculous they have minhag, super far fetched concerns, and real Shatnez alerts all mixed together.

I called the Shatnez Lab of Williams and they said there is no shatnez and it is a bubbe maiseh.
Shatnez Lab of Williams? Is that a street or a town?
im assuming he used Williams instead of typing Williamsburg.

I made some research on this issue
Every bekishe store all of them have a wool thread in the canvas
