250 bochurim from yeshivos in the Bayit Vegan and Givat Mordechai neighborhoods demonstrated on a recent Shabbos night outside the Dominos Pizza located down the hill from Bayit Vegan, protesting against it opening on Shabbos and selling non-kosher products.
“It is inconceivable that treifa should be sold and Shabbos desecrated at the entrance to a chareidi neighborhood with no one protesting,” one demonstrator said.
“This is the first demonstration outside the shop since [it opened] in 1997,” the pizzeria’s manager said. “We work exclusively in accordance with the law.”
Sadly, what he said is perfectly true because city bylaws allow cafés and eateries to operate legally on Shabbos.
