[Updated below.] 4:13 p.m. IL/9:13 a.m. EST: Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv is in need of rachamei Shomayim as he remains hospitalized at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Yerushalayim. As reported yesterday, the gadol hador was taken by ambulance from his home on Rechov Chanan in Meah Shearim to the hospital.
The hospitalization comes just two weeks after tests revealed that Rav Elyashiv has water in his lungs and that his heart is working only at 20 percent capacity.
Doctors are working today to drain water from Rav Elyashiv’s lungs, related, according to reports, to the extreme weakness of his heart.
While Rav Elyashiv is stable and fully conscious, he is very, very weak and is connected to oxygen, which is helping him breathe. It appears that he will need to remain in the hospital at least for a few days for physicians to address the various concerns.
Just two weeks ago, Rav Elyashiv served as the mesader kiddushin at the wedding of his youngest grandchild, daughter of his son-in-law and daughter, Rav and Rebbetzin Binyomin Rimmer, in Yerushalayim.
All are asked to daven for Rav Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.
8:31 p.m. IL/1:31 p.m. EST: We are told that Rav Elyashiv’s condition has taken a turn for the worse. Many family members are on the tenth floor of Shaarei Tzedek, where they are saying Tehillim.
9:23 p.m. IL/2:23 p.m. EST: Rav Elyashiv’s condition is severe and all are asked to daven for his refuah. Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman has said that all bnei hayeshiva should stop and say Tehillim Rav Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.

Are we supposed to include “Rav” when saying his name by Tehilim?
???? ???? ?? ??? ????
????? ?????
In answer to Ben Torah, it would be Kavodik too ..Hashem should give Rav Elyashiv and the cholef of Klal Yisroel speedy Refuah Sheliemas with the speedy arrival of Moshiach in our days!!!
Refua Shleimah what difficult times are we in…
Everyone in yerushalayim is asked to please attend a mass gathering to say tehillim at the kosel.
I believe that the minhag is not to say rav as it looks like we wre asking hashem to consider the choleh’s merits and greatness and we prefer to appeal for midas horachamim. One should as their moreh horah though
the minhag is not to say rav (this is what I know, others may do differently) but obviously Mr Yair Alpert who wrote the article, out of respect for the Gadol, typed “Rav” in front of his name. Can anyone blame him? We should learn some kvod HaRav even though technically Ben Torah is, I believe, correct. Refuah shleimah with all the cholim of Israel.
Hashem Please give our Gadol Hador a Complete refuah!!
i am surprised and disappointed that Matzav that prides itself in presenting the torah world does not have this post in the highlights (in blue on top of web page. Please change that.
You are not supposed to daven for a person and add the name “Rav” before his name even if he is a Rabbi.
Hashem yirachem oleinu! refuah shleima!
May Hashem heal our great rav quickly!
