Madman Attacks Mispallelim at Kerestirer Shul in Williamsburg

A madman terrorized the Kerestirer Shul on Berry Street in Williamsburg last night, throwing soda cans at mispallelim and waving a butcher knife over his head, police and witnesses said. One of the cans hit a mispallel at the shul at about 7:30 p.m. and he tried to fight off the attacker. The thug left only to return moments later, brandishing the 12-inch blade in search of the victim and sparking a panic.

“Everybody ran out scared,” Zechariah Jacobs, 27, told the New York Post. “It was terrible. Everybody was screaming.”

Luckily, a friend of the perpetrator, described as a black man in his early 20s, was able to stop him before he hurt anyone. The pair fled.
