8,500 talmidei yeshiva have signed a petition demanding an end to discrimination in public transport. 13% discounts are granted to students but not to talmidei yeshiva.
The signatories pointed out that this is ridiculous considering that the state considers Torah study so important that bochurim are granted draft exemption, while even those who oppose draft exemption cannot disagree that Torah study is not less worthy than the study of philosophy or ancient Greek.

As far as i know, college students get a 50% discount on all public transportation, not 13%.
If they/you consider Israel
to still be golus, then it’s preferable to avoid….
can i get a link to sine on?
Anyone who pays for their education (be it religious or secular) should get a discount. That does seem fair.
In Jerusalem ,secular students can get a year pass for transportation for very cheap, yeshiva students deserve at least the same!
