cuomo-bloombergNew Yorkers gave high marks to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg for their reaction to Superstorm Sandy, but are far less happy with the Long Island Power Authority.

A Siena College poll released Monday finds 67 percent of the voters surveyed thought Cuomo did an excellent or good
job dealing with the storm and its aftermath. Bloomberg was rated excellent or good by 55 percent of those polled.

“New Yorkers are very impressed with the job that Gov. Cuomo has done over the last several weeks in dealing with Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath,” Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said in a statement.

That compares to 20 percent who thought LIPA did a good or excellent job. The power provider has been under fire by critics who say it took too long to restore power to thousands of customers.

“When it comes to the power companies, the results vary. Among all voters, Con Ed gets mixed grades. However, more than half of New York City voters say Con Ed has done an excellent or good job,” Greenberg said. “When it comes to voters’ feelings about LIPA, now that’s a different story. Only one in six Long Islanders says LIPA has done an excellent or good job, compared to 60 percent who say the company has performed poorly.”

The statewide telephone poll of 822 registered voters was conducted Nov. 26-29. It has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.

  1. about Mayor Bloomberg
    Definitely not a true pole

    No Gas for Weeks
    Reckless behavior about marathon
Reckless behavior in not protecting neighborhoods
And not letting National Guard protect – Just for his ego
    etc etc

  2. Its a bogus poll. Bloomberg messed up with the gas – this huge city was handicapped for almost three weeks with these huge gas lines. Bloomberg did ziltch! Why didn’t temporarily allow gas from Pennsylvania etc??? Why didn’t he ration even and odd days until 11 days later??

Yes, now, five weeks after Sandy they’ll come up with these stupid bogus polls. Exactly whose opinion are you seeking to change, Mr Bloomberg? Do you really think we’re that fickle?
