Rav Wosner On Budget Cuts: They Are Not Hurting Us, But Themselves

Sunday March 24, 2013 10:13 AM - 14 Comments

rav-wosnerRav Shmuel Halevi Wosner, author of the Shevet Halevi and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin in Bnei Brak, in a drasha on Shabbos that the scheduled cuts to the budgets of yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel will cause unspeakable damage to limud haTorah “and cause the future existence of Klal Yisroel to be in doubt.”

The survival of Klal Yisroel, said Rav Wosner in his Shabbos Hagadol drasha, has “from time immemorial been dependent on the Torah Hakedoshah. Malachi, the last novi, says in his final words that Klal Yisroel must ‘remember the Torah of Moshe avdi.’ Even if prophecy has passed from the world, we are enjoined to remember and learn the Torah,” he said.

The movement to lessen support for Torah study is endangering the state, he said.

“Eretz Yisroelis in danger. The sinners who seek to harm Torah study do not realize that they are endangering the existence of the land altogether. They are not hurting us, those who learn Torah, but themselves. Malachi, after warning us not to forget the Torah, warns us of the consequences if we…forget the Torah, ‘lest I devastate the Land.’ Let those who seek to harm us be on notice that they may cause much damage to all around them and to the land they live in,” he said.

Rabbi Wosner concluded by saying that it is hoped that those behind the cuts will “wake up and change their ways.”

Just read the other story here on Matzav about John Kerry pushing Israel to begin negotiations by releasing a bunch of murderers. What will they get in return? An opportunity to surrender more land to the blood-thirsty Arabs.

You know what? This coalition is very likely to agree! Netanyahu may not want to. But the rest of his coalition does want to.
Livni would like to.
Lapid would like to.
Bennett? See about lapid (he wouldn’t want to break his agreement with Lapid).

So that’s just the beginning, within two weeks of signing the this coalition agreement.

And we haven’t even discussed Iran.

“future existence of Klal Yisroel in doubt?” Come on now, we’ve had worse than budget cuts.

The “editors” of Matzav.Com may think that by refusing to post comments, you are protecting the Haredi community.

In truth, you just display yuor true colors. You would do just fine running internet blogs in Teheran or Pyongyang.

Hope you enjoy your “Yiddishe Nachas”.

Not only in Sefer Malachi, but in the entire Tenaach, we can find Pesukim urging us to sit and learn Torah. It does net say it B’ferish, but by utilizing Roshei Teives and Gematrious, we can find it.
Especially in todays day and age where we have so many technical equip, we should really try to find Gematrious to show that the Pesukim are pleading with us to sit and learn.

“how much does a good piece of matzoh cost me in the amazon”

I have absolutely no idea. In any case I would never cause a matza to come in contact with “the amazon” as I don’t hold with ‘gebrokts’
