[Video below.] In honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut yesterday, a magician paid a visit to the streets of Geulah and Meah Shearim in Yerushalayim and put on a rousing performance, charming passersby with his amazing quickness, prestidigitation, and mind-boggling tricks.

THE CHABAD SHLIACH TO KIRYAT ARBA
I would be shocked if this was in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut as Chabad is not Tziyoni at all.
Yesterdays Daf- Achizas Einayim is Assur
I was sure it was [deleted by moderator] in honor of Yom Hatzomos.
Great idea to add some humor to the neighborhood.
Thank you # 5
I thought I was the only “Am HaAretz”.
All kidding aside, the oilam (even some in the yeshivishe and chasidishe velt) don’t know this.
As I was doing the daf yesterday as well, I looked up the halachah regarding magic shows. See the Igros Moshe who has a teshuvah on this. I merely skimmed through it, but I am pretty sure he paskens that as long as the “magician” makes it clear that it is only sleight of hand, and no one can misconstrue it as kishuf, then it is ok. Ayin Sham.
I’m pretty sure it is ossur to even watch slight of hand (Sanhedrin 68-69). Is this not a mishkal? Someone enlighten me on the heter. The Chochmas Odom considers this a lav d’oreisa.
Rav Ovadia Yosef assurs even achizas einayim
I would think the intent would be a factor…..
