For many years, Rav Gershon Edelstein, rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, has given shmuessen encouraging bochurim to remain in yeshiva throughout Chanukah to ensure that regular sedorim are kept, even on the weekend of Shabbos Chanukah.
The Yated Ne’eman (USA) reports that this year, Rav Edelstein once again spoke about the importance of maintaining sedorim on Chanukah, adding that he has no doubt that the zechus of Torah has the ability to bring brachah and yeshuah.
One week ago, on Thursday, 12 Teves/December 24, seven talmidim of Ponovezh Yeshiva got engaged on the same night. The talmidim are Yaakov Berman, Yoni Orlentchik, Nochum Frei, Uri Margalit, Yehuda Turgeman and Yechezkel Adler. All of them remained at Ponovezh Yeshiva to learn throughout Chanukah.
