Dozens of Palestinians were recorded violently beating a Jew during a protest near the kever of Shmuel Hanovi in Yerushalayim.

The event took place on Friday during a demonstration by some residents of the Palestinian village of Nabi Samuel, who were angry about the closing of the village’s gates. A number of Jews who came with Israeli flags were violently attacked and the security guards present at the scene tried to drive the attackers away.

Today, police announced that they arrested five suspects among the participants of the protest on suspicion of their involvement in the violence.

“Residents of the area between their 20s and 50s were detained for questioning by the Yerushalayim district police,” police said.

The documentation of the violence caused an uproar and drew strong condemnations. Bibi Netanyahu attacked the government and said: “National honor is not a luxury. Its absence will cost human lives. The lynching attempt at Kever Shmuel Hanovi is shocking. Dozens of Arabs violently attack a young Jewish man after he waved an Israeli flag, and they kicked and punched him… A hard hand is needed immediately.”

  1. The Torah forbids us to provoke the goyim. Bringing an Israeli flag into an area filled with angry Arabs seems to fall into the definition of provoking the goyim. Of course they shouldn’t try to lynch anyone but neither should this person have brought a flag.
