Last night, at a town meeting Haverstraw, NY, not far from Monsey, NY an anti-Semite was given free rein to let loose, unleashing a tirade of hate against Jews, until he was finally stopped by a police officer.
Nick Collela, who said he lives at 45 River Glen, addressed the assemblage during the public session and lashed out, criticizing Jews for everything from walking in the street, to not wearing reflector belts, to Hatzolah ambulances responding to calls.

This guy was out of line, of course, but if some of his complaints were valid, they should be addressed and corrected. It is not a good idea to create resentment by acting improperly. You don’t want things to fester beneath the surface, that is very dangerous. Some of his complaints are quite believable, as I see them frequently by local “frum” people. Things like keeping garbage cans out for days, blocking sidewalks with illegal parking, etc. If people do that and it blows up in their faces someday, they will only have themselves to blame.
And the goyim don’t do these things?!

Why is it antisemitic to complain about the way people behave? I live near the Chinese in Boro Park. There are things they do I don’t like, like hang their laundry to dry in their front yard. I think their architecture is disgusting. Does that make me a racist or a bigot?
Um…I’m not they type of guy who always sides with the frum community when it is being criticized by outsiders and I wear a reflector and think everyone else should as well but there is no way anyone can justify a comment like “So I run into someone not wearing a reflector and of course I’ll back up and run over them again…”
