Nineteen Palestinians were arrested by the Israel Defense Forces on Monday following riots in several locations in Shomron, according to an IDF spokesperson.

The suspects were taken into custody for involvement in terrorism and violence against civilians and security forces, according to the IDF.

Some of the riots were connected to an ongoing hunger strike by Arab convicts in Israeli jails, who claim that the Israel Prison Service has activated public phones in the prisons as it agreed to do. The prisoners are also demanding that the prisons deactivate all cellular jamming devices.

Two IDF jeeps crashed into each other while speeding through clashes between security forces and rioters in Halul, north of Hebron. Video of the incident, which was captured by a local resident, was circulated on social media.

Also on Monday night, just days before the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, the IDF secured the Kever Yosef for about 1,200 Jewish worshippers in Shechem/Nablus.

During security sweeps in the area, soldiers found an explosive device next to the roadway, which IDF sappers removed from the location. No injuries or damage were reported.

Two rioters were reportedly injured by rubber bullets near Joseph’s Tomb, according to Quds news.
