Emergency sirens blared in the localities of Kissufim and Ein Hashlosha in the southern part of Israel, piercing the stillness of Friday morning at 7:16 am. This incident unfolded just a little over 15 minutes subsequent to the initiation of a four-day ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas extremist group situated in the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire, enacted at 7 am, is part of an arrangement aimed at liberating 50 out of the numerous hostages detained by Hamas in Gaza since October 7. Indications suggest that Hamas or other terror elements within the Gaza Strip have already breached the terms of the ceasefire.

The impending release schedule stipulates that at 4 pm, Hamas is slated to free the initial 13 hostages, women and children. The roster of those to be liberated was transmitted to the Qatari authorities on Thursday, with the release anticipated to transpire at either the Rafah or Nitzana crossings.

Concurrent with the emancipation of the initial 13 hostages, Hamas is anticipated to present a secondary list, enumerating 12 more people set to be released on Shabbos.

Throughout the duration of the four-day ceasefire, Israel has committed to abstain from furthering its military campaign against Hamas, refraining also from conducting aerial surveillance of the group’s military operations for a designated six-hour period daily. Furthermore, Israel has concurred to the release of approximately 150 security detainees in exchange for the hostages.

Reports emerged of widespread Israel Defense Forces assaults in the Gaza Strip during the overnight hours preceding the ceasefire’s initiation. Additionally, around 4:30 a.m., sirens reverberated in communities proximate to the Gaza border, breaking a silence that had persisted for over 13 hours. Furthermore, sirens echoed in the vicinity approximately 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the ceasefire.
