Elon Musk, who owns the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), is slated to make a visit to Israel in the upcoming week, Channel 12 News reports.

Sources indicate that Musk, currently the wealthiest individual globally, plans to tour the region near the Gaza Strip border to witness the aftermath of the surprise assault by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in significant damage to towns and kibbutzim.

The proposed itinerary includes meetings with President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Musk and Netanyahu had previously met two weeks before the commencement of the conflict.

This visit follows closely on the heels of Musk facing criticism for purported antisemitism, stemming from an incident where he seemed to endorse an antisemitic conspiracy theory related to Jewish people. Consequently, several major industry players announced the discontinuation of their advertising on X.

In response to the backlash, Musk addressed the situation, stating, “This past week, there were hundreds of bogus media stories claiming that I am antisemitic. Nothing could be further from the truth. I wish only the best for humanity and a prosperous and exciting future for all.” Musk’s history includes a strained relationship with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), during which he even threatened a defamation lawsuit. The ADL, however, has since resolved the conflict, declaring a resumption of advertising on X.

At the onset of the Gaza conflict, Musk pledged to connect international humanitarian organizations in Gaza to his company Starlink’s satellite internet. This commitment arose after Israeli attacks on Hamas infrastructure led to the collapse of all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Gaza. Israeli officials expressed concerns about potential benefits to Hamas, prompting Musk to assert that he would implement “extraordinary measures” to ensure the use is solely for humanitarian purposes. He committed to conducting security checks with both the US and Israeli governments.

In a subsequent conversation with Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) chief Ronen Bar, Musk reiterated his support for Israel and clarified that the proposed internet connection would be exclusively for humanitarian purposes.

  1. It is hard to understand Mr. Musk.

He is thankful to be such a growing helper in this era.

Musk made a hard comment last week. It is hard to keep his certain humor.

  2. Great, now my frum news is writing ADL viewpoints. Story makes it sound like ADL had valid complaints, and when carried on a frum news site this means Torah true arguments and that it was bad Musk argued and good they made up. But, in reality from a Torah perspective the exact opposite is true as ADL’s hashkafa is keneged Torah and we see the Gedolim disagreed with that mindset when they proclaimed to not attend the rally.
