[Tech Startups] Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institutes of Health, is the top-paid federal employee with earning of $434,312 in 2020, according to Forbes. Dr. Fauci’s wife, Christine Grady, also earns $176,000 as Chief of the Department of Bioethics at the NIH. However, what’s unknown to most Americans is that Dr. Fauci and his wife are members of the millionaires club.
For many months, a handful of organizations have tried suing Dr. Anthony Fauci in order to have them released. Now according to newly released financial documents which were not previously available to the public, Dr. Fauci and his wife had $10.4 million in investments at the end of 2020. The sum includes $2.3 million in unrealized gains which were held in various mutual funds.
Dr. Fauci’s 2020 financial disclosure was leaked by US Senator Roger Marshall, who Dr. Fauci called a “moron” last week during a hot-mic moment. Sen. Marshall released the documents on Friday night after he inquired into Fauci’s financial disclosures during a Senate proceeding Tuesday. In a statement, Sen. Marshall, who is also a doctor, said:
“Dr. Fauci was completely dishonest about his financial disclosures being open to the public. Dr. Fauci must be held accountable to all Americans who have been suing and requesting for this information but don’t have the power of a Senate office to ask for it.”
In a post on Twitter, Sen Marshall said,
“BREAKING! I obtained Dr. Fauci’s previously unpublished financial disclosures. Dr. Fauci was completely dishonest about his disclosures being readily accessible to the public which is why I am releasing them now.”
Although Dr. doctor has insisted he hasn’t profited from the pandemic, his financial records showed that he and his wife, who is the NIH’s top bioethicist, were paid $14,000 to “virtually” attend a series of galas directly related to his position as the nation’s top public health official.
Dr. Fauci, 80, has led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. As the Daily Mail explains, if Dr. Fauci continues until the end of Biden’s term in 2024, he will have made about $2.5 million as the president’s chief medical advisor. When he retires, Fauci’s pension will be the largest in US history, exceeding $350,000 per year.
Meanwhile, in another statement on the Senate.gov website, Sen. Marshall said that “Dr. Fauci misled the American people and said, “My financial disclosures are public knowledge.”
“The NIH released the documents to Senator Marshall after a HELP hearing earlier this week where Dr. Fauci misled the American people and said, “My financial disclosures are public knowledge, and have been so. It is totally accessible to you, if you want it. To the public.”
