All are asked to daven for Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, who has been taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune by Hatzolah.

All are asked to daven for Rav Aryeh Malkiel ben Rischel.

Rav Kotler is a son of Rav Shneur Kotler zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, and a grandson of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l, founding rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha.

Rav Kotler is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisroel of America.

Named after his maternal grandfather, Rav Aryeh Malkiel Friedman, the 70-year old rosh yeshiva is the second of 9 children of Rav Shneur and Rebbetzin Rischel.

Upon the passing of his father in 1982, he became rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha together with Rav Dovid Schustal, Rav Yerucham Olshin, and Rav Yisroel Neuman. At that time, the yeshiva had an enrollment of some 800 talmidim. Since then, the yeshiva has grown more than 800% to a current size of over 6,000 talmidim.

Update: The rosh yeshiva is said to be in stable condition. The rosh yeshiva sustained an aortic dissection which occurs when the innermost layer of the aorta allows blood to flow between the layers of the aortic wall, forcing the layers apart. In most cases, this is associated with a sudden onset of severe chest or back pain, often described as tearing.
