rite aidCrown Heights, NY – More than 100 new apartments are coming to Crown Heights, according to a filing for a new 122,000-square-foot residential project to be built on the site of a Rite Aid pharmacy.

The seven-story, mixed-use building at 1040 St. Johns Place between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues will include 122 residential units, 9,000 square feet of commercial space and nearly 30,000 square feet for a “community facility,” according to a building permit filed Wednesday with the Department of Buildings by Soft Stone Development.

The property will also have 69 enclosed parking spaces, the permit said.

The site where the project will be built is currently occupied by a large Rite Aid pharmacy and its parking lot; a representative of Soft Stone told New York YIMBY the group plans to include the pharmacy in the new building.

The owner of the property, 1040 Properties LLC, bought the lot in 2004 for $1.875 million, deeds show.
