Two soldiers were killed when a military transport truck overturned on Route 12, about three miles north of Eilat. The IDF Spokesperson’s Office released the names of the soldiers killed in the deadly accident: 19-year-old Private Sergeant Hebtemo Abeba from Kiryat Gat and the driver of the truck, and 35-year-old First Sergeant Jacob Toeti of Dimona and a soldier in the reserves.
MDA and IDF medical teams who were called to the scene provided immediate medical treatment but the two were pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed to vehicular traffic after the accident but was reopened a few hours later.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the truck had apparently reached a curve in the road but had continued to drive straight. As a result, the truck overturned and the two soldiers were crushed to death. Read more here.
