ben-gurionSome 435,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben-Gurion Airport during the Yom Tov Sukkos on some 2,800 flights. The airport is especially preparing for this Thursday and next Sunday, which are expected to be particularly busy – with more than 50,000 travelers in 24 hours.

The most popular destinations this period – between October 1-11 – are Turkey (with about 500 flights and 70,000 passengers); the United States (about 167 flights and 38,000 passengers); Germany (about 196 flights and 34,000 passengers); Italy (239 flights and 32,000 passengers); and England (142 flights and 27,000 passengers).

The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) said in a statement that passengers passing through Ben-Gurion Airport are invited to visit a sukkah built near Terminal 3 (between Gates 2 and 3).

“The busy period at Ben-Gurion Airport is expected to last until after the High Holidays,” said IAA Director-General Kobi Mor. “The IAA is getting ready to allow passengers to enjoy a pleasant stay at Ben-Gurion Airport on very tight schedules. We will continue our preparations in order to allow a free flow of travelers leaving and returning on Sukkos.”
