The IDF is to invest 50 million shekels to upgrade the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Yerushalayim and the Kever Rochel checkpoint in the south. This will hopefully improve conditions for the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who pass through the checkpoints daily as well as the security of the soldiers manning them.
This upgrade is the beginning of a 300 million shekel improvement program that former Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon announced in May.
