Apple Tells Feds to Go Jump, Refuses to Unlock San Bernardino Gunman’s Phone

In a statement issued today, Apple CEO Tim Cook said building a backdoor to access encrypted data on the iPhone of San Bernardino gunman Syed Farook would be “too dangerous to create.”

A federal judge had ordered Apple to provide investigators access to Farook’s iPhone after the company “declined to provide” it voluntarily.

But Apple responded that weakening encryption would only harm law-abiding citizens who rely on the company to protect their data.

“We can find no precedent for an American company being forced to expose its customers to a greater risk of attack,” the statement said. “Criminals and bad actors will still encrypt, using tools that are readily available to them.” Read more at Apple.

  1. The absolute nerve of this guy is breathtaking. The U.S. is at war with mass murderers who share this terrorist’s ideology and Apple is refusing to possibly help crack a terror ring? Mind boggling. Does Tim Cook even care that another mass murder may occur due to his refusal to help stop these terrorists?
Had Apple existed during World War 2 they’d have opposed Allied efforts to crack Enigma and Purple.

  2. Maybe Tim Cook should relocate Apple’s corporate HQ to Mosul, Iraq, now under the control of Daesh. I am sure he will have a huge market for secure IPhones there.

  3. This is America. The government needs to stay out of our private lives. What they are asking for is for the tools to break in to all i phones not just the info on this one. Say no to government snooping in our lives.

  4. Who said that this snooping tool will not just be reserved exclusively for counter terrorism, but will be used altogether to prevent terrorism? Refer to Tsarnayev case: FBI knew all along they were up to no good, yet didn’t do nothing to stop the Tsarnayevs, which led to the Boston bombing. So no thank you, I don’t won’t the gubmit getting more snooping tools that will be used against the citizenry, while refusing to hurt islamoazis’ feelings by taking any meaningful proactive action.

  5. Just a cheap sales ploy to hustle more Khazzaray. I’m sure a million pimps, dope peddlers, and terrorists are quite impressed and excited about the tool’s security features. All Cook/Apple had to do, was to give the USG a copy of the contents, with all mechanical information obscured or eliminated. Very very low-life person and company.
