[Audio below.] The following is a shiur delivered by Harav Yisroel Reisman, maggid shiur in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and mara d’asra of Agudath Israel of Madison. The shiur, on Parshas Behar, was delivered this week to Rav Reisman’s alumni over the telephone.

1. Pshat in the ptur of Lav She’ain bo Maaseh even when there is an action, is that the lav happens in an inactive way even if there is an action. In other words, buying chometz is not what is causing the issur, but OWNING the chometz causes the issur, as we see he is oiver even if there is no purchase. Similarly spitting on someone is Ona’ah, not because of the spitting but because of the disrespecting which has no action even if it comes about through an action.
2. Who says there is no need for stone floors in the Bais Hamikdosh? It was all al-pi Navi. One can’t ask why the mikdash had stone because that was the method of avodah in the Bais Hamikdosh! It wasn’t the ratzon hatorah to not bow on a stone floor, it was the ratzon hatorah not to have a stone floor OUTSIDE THE BAIS HAMIKDOSH.
I’m sure the Chasam Sofer is correct, would like to know why.
