kashrusThe Tel Aviv Labor Court imposed an NIS 151,560 fine on one of the city’s restaurants for violating overtime and Shabbos labor laws. Judge Orly Sela fined Big Mama, located on Rechov Hanatziv, a fine of NIS 121,260, while the manager was fined NIS 10,000. The ruling was handed down following a plea-bargain agreement.

The Industry, Trade and Employment Ministry slapped the restaurant with another NIS 20,300 in fines for general labor violations including failing to notify workers of their employment terms, not providing a written notice regarding the beginning and end of employer-employee relations and not posting a notice regarding minimum wage rights.

The ministry’s chief prosecutor, Atty. Tamar Pincus, said, “The level of the fines reflects the seriousness of the acts and the undermining of a portion of the employees at the restaurant and is intended, in part, to prevent a recurrence of similar violations by the defendants or other employers.”
