rav-efraim-mordechai-ginsburgHarav Ephraim Mordechai Ginsburg zt”l arrived on the American shores together with the Mirrer Yeshiva soon after World War II. He helped reestablish the yeshiva in Brooklyn and led the Mirrer Yeshiva in its early years. Sadly, he was niftar at a young age, but his influence is still felt today. He had many illustrious talmidim, even among the Mirrer bochurim during the Shanghai years. His shiurim were published as Chiddushei Harav Ephraim Mordechai and are used by many maggidei shiur today. The Mirrer Yeshiva that exists today in Brooklyn is largely to his credit.

The children of Rav Ephraim Mordechai Ginsburg are at the forefront of harbotzas haTorah in America today. His son, Rav Moshe Ginsburg, founded a mesivta five years ago and has named it after him to perpetuate the memory of his father. Mesivta Gedulas Mordechai has already shown great success in producing bnei Torah.

Tonight, a special dinner will be held in Rav Ephraim Mordechai’s memory, serving as a reunion of talmidim of the rosh yeshiva. Rabbi Moshe Handelsman, Rabbi Boruch Harrar and Rabbi Shlomo Wanouno learnt in the yeshiva during those years and are the guests of honor. There will also be a tribute to Rav Avrohom Pessin zt”l, a rov in Monsey who was recently niftar. He was beloved by the rosh yeshiva as one of his closest and most prominent talmidim.

It promises to be an inspiring event as the talmidim will reminisce about their great rebbi who is gone almost fifty years. There will be a slideshow about his life and a review of his ideals.

The dinner will take place at Ahavas Torah, 2961 Nostrand Avenue, at 7 p.m.
