Germany: Train Attacker Isn’t Terrorist

A knife attack by a barefoot man at a German train station early Tuesday left one man dead and three seriously injured as authorities rejected what was initially believed to be an assault with “an apparent Islamist motive.” Police said the suspect, a 27-year-old German citizen, reportedly shouted “Allahu akbar” as he launched his attack shortly before 5 a.m. at a small rural train station outside Munich.

However, a Bavarian investigator later confirmed the attacker was a man known to have psychiatric and drug issues who had been seeking treatment for addiction; officials at the scene said a container holding illegal drugs was found.

Grafing station, the scene of the attack, is a usually sleepy part of the Munich S-Bahn network of commuter trains. Read more at BBC.
