While speaking at Texas Southern University on Thursday, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton called out Republican state legislatures for restricting early access to polls and, she said, attempting to suppress Democratic voter turnout.
“What part of democracy are they afraid of?” she asked. She expressed concern over a “sweeping effort to disempower and disenfranchise people of color, young people and poor people” and called for reform in national voter registration laws that would make it easier for young people and people of color to vote.
