hikind daskalAssemblyman Hikind (D-Brooklyn) and Yanky Daskal, the founder and coordinator of the Boro Park Shomrim, have released a short video discussing important safety tips for the upcoming Yom Tov of Sukkos, which starts Sunday evening, September 27, 2015.

Hikind said, “There is nothing like being aware of your surroundings and not having aggravation later.” With these tips, “you will be protecting your family, your property, and your children’s safety in general,” Hikind added.

Many observant Jews will be living and eating in a sukkah for the duration of the holiday. In the seven-and-a-half minute video, Hikind and Daskal remind those observing the holiday on practicing general safety tips in the sukkah, such as fire and burn prevention, the importance of keeping home doors locked, and not leaving valuables such as candelabras, honey dishes, or other silver items in the sukkah overnight or whenever the sukkah is unoccupied (even if you plan on sleeping there). Hikind and Daskal also have some simple tips and reminders for parents on child safety for yomtov outings.
