An Indonesian airliner lost contact with ground control Sunday morning during a short flight in bad weather through a mountainous patch of the country. The plane is carrying 54 passengers and while there have been no developments yet, the search for the aircraft will continue Monday morning.

The weather near Oksibil, where the plane was supposed to land, got bad as the plane lost contact shortly before it was scheduled to land.

The Papua region, where the plane was flying, is covered in jungles and some planes that have disappeared there before have never been recovered. Read more at the Los Angeles Times.
