U.S.-led coalition warplanes attempting to strike ISIS fighters accidentally hit Iraqi army forces as well, Baghdad said Friday.
The Iraqi ministry of defense said in a statement that one officer was killed and nine were wounded.
The Washington Post notes that this is the first time the Iraqi government has reported a friendly fire incident since the U.S. began bombing ISIS targets last year. Read more at The Washington Post.
