Updated, 10:23 p.m.: As we stated earlier, several reports have unfortunately reported tonight’s kidnapping as having involved a “Lakewood resident.” It should be noted that while the incident did happen in Lakewood, the man who was kidnapped does not reside in Lakewood.
The 31-year-old man was picked up by the kidnappers on Oberlin Avenue, in the vicinity of the Lakewood Industrial Park, and was badly beaten by the time he was dropped off in a wooded area near Cross Street and White Road.
The man, who was staying at the Capitol Hotel on Madison Avenue, resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and was kidnapped near his place of employment. He was subsequently taken to the trauma center at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune to be treated.
