The NYPD today announced a citywide crackdown on texting and driving, and the failure to yield to pedestrians. Two 24-hour crackdowns will take place this week – the first beginning at midnight Tuesday morning, the second at midnight Friday morning.
In announcing the crackdown, NYPD reminded New Yorkers that using a hand-held cellphone and texting while driving is illegal, and dangerous to both drivers and pedestrians.
