Givat Shmuel Mayor Yosi Barudani argued that large numbers of outside visitors to his city’s parks was preventing its residents from enjoying city facilities and instituted a ban on non-residents from using the parks.

After an outcry, a compromise deal was reached with Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, and it was agreed that Bnei Brak residents will be allowed visit the town’s public parks but some of the parks’ facilities will be reserved for locals.

Deri is attempting to get approval for nine new parks in Bnei Brak with advanced children’s facilities.
