Protesters Disrupt Traffic On George Washington Bridge, Causing Major Delays

Protesters chained themselves together on the George Washington Bridge, disrupting traffic during the height of rush hour this morning, CBS NEW YORK reports.

The inbound upper level was closed for only 15 minutes, but the damage was done. Delays into New York at one point reached 90 minutes.

Protesters with an immigrant rights group held up a banner reading “Resist, Organized, Rise Up!” and blocked traffic heading into New York around 8 a.m.

One protestor wrote on social media:

#WeAreVisible protesters arrested blocking NYC’s GW Bridge demanding equal rights 4 immigrants & political power 4 marginalised communities

Police arrested 10 people, CBS2 reported.
