The Tel Aviv-Yafo rabbinate announced the introduction of an automatic internet system for marriage registration. This will enable couples to conduct the entire registration process online, including uploading required photos and documents to the secure rabbinate site. Eventually, witnesses will be able to testify to the eligibility of marrying couples via Skype from their homes without needing to visit the religious council’s offices.
“This is the first attempt of its type in the country to move marriage registration a step forward and enable thousands of couples who register their marriages every year in Tel Aviv do so easily, quickly and decorously,” said Eldad Mizrachi, head of the Tel Aviv-Yafo religious council.
