rav boruch chouriIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Boruch Choury zt”l.

Rav Boruch passed away Wednesday evening after being hospitalized in serious condition for severe pneumonia.

Rav Boruch was one of the zekan hamekubalim in Eretz Yisroel. He was nearly 100 years old.

Rav Boruch was well-known for being credited with initiating and spreading the concept of “Tehillim Hamechulak,” meaning dividing the sefer of Tehillim into separate sections – often 25 to 30 booklets – for people to recite. He is recognized for the growth of popularity of this form of Tehillim recital both in Eretz Yisroel and the Diaspora.

He lived for decades in the southern Israel moshav of Sharsheret, a small community near Netivot with just several hundred residents.

The levayah was held at the bais hachaim in Netivot.

Yehi zichro boruch.
