Rav Elyashiv’s Condition Deteriorates

yosef-shalom-elyashiv-11The condition of Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv continues to deteriorate, according to his doctors, who are very concerned. Rav Elyashiv has been suffering from pain and a high fever, as physicians at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center continue to try to address water on his lungs and a blood infection. Rav Elyashiv is currently sedated and connected to a respirator.

Earlier this week, Rav Elyashiv was removed from the ventilator and was able to breathe on his own for several days, but he then suffered a relapse, with symptoms of pneumonia. The recent finding of a blood infection is disconcerting, a member of the family told Matzav.com Israel.

Doctors are monitoring the 101-year-old posek hador around the clock, trying to address the latest developments.

Rav Elyashiv remains in the cardiac unit on the tenth floor of Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center, as he is now in the hospital for almost one month.

Klal Yisroel is asked to continue davening for Rav Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.
