Rav Shteinman Remains Critical, But Stable

There condition of Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman’s at the Intensive Care Unit at Maayanei Hayeshuah Medical Center in Bnei Brak remains critical, but is stable, reports Dr. Eliyahu Sorkin of Maayanei Hayeshuah.

Dr. Sorkin gave a press conference at the hospital this afternoon.

Dr. Sorkin, who would not comment on all aspects of Rav Shteinman’s care, said that Rav Shteinman is suffering from a fever and lack of kidney function, for which the physicians and seeking a solution, but that there are no cardiac issues.

Dr. Sorkin said that Rav Shteinman is doing “better now than this morning” and that his condition is “not life threatening,” but it is “precarious.”

Rav Steinman had first been hospitalized Monday for general examination and was moved to the ICU this morning.

Dr. Moti Ravid of Maayanei Hayeshuah told Radio Kol BaRama that this morning “the rosh yeshiva was not conscious.”

Rav Chaim Kanievsky, Rav Gershon Edelstein and others have instructed yeshivas and other mekomos haTorah to pause during their sedorim today to say Tehillim for Rav Shteinman.

Earlier today, Rav Shteinman’s daughter, Rebbetzin Rochel Devorah Berlin a”h, was niftar, but he was not told about the news.

All are asked to continue davening for Rav Aharon Yehuda Leib ben Gittel Faiga.
