It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Yosef Dov Fischer zt”l, rov of the Bais Midrash LeTorah in Rechovot. He was niftar Friday night at the age of 86.

Rav Fischer led his bais medrash for over 40 years.

Rav Fischer was greatly respected by the rabbonim of the city, who would daven at his shul from time to time. He was a noted baal tefillah for the Yomim Noraim, and every Shabbos mevorchim people would go to hear his special rendition of Birchas Hachodesh.

For many years, he gave weekly shiurim at Kollel Birchas Elchonon.

About 19 years ago, Rav Fischer suffered a stroke. Despite the difficulties involved, he expended great effort to go to his bais medrash on weekdays and Shabbosos.

He leaves behind a beautiful family, including his sons in law, Rav Chaim Freund, rosh kollel Nachlas Moshe in Bnei Brak; Rav Chaim Green of Bnei Brak; and Rav Avrohom Banet of Bnei Brak. His brothers-in-law include the previous Vizhnitzer Rebbe zt”l and Rav Pollak from Beit Chilkiya.

The levayah was held last night at his bais medrash, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim.

Yehi zichro boruch.
