Republican leaders in Mississippi and Georgia are debating whether to bail out state hospitals that would have received funding under President Obama’s health care law.
After a Supreme Court ruling, 25 states either refused to expand their Medicaid programs in accordance with the Obamacare overhaul, or are still debating whether to do so. That has left a large number of poor residents without insurance and unable to pay for treatments, which leaves hospitals in the lurch.
The federal government has pledged to pay the full cost of Medicaid expansion for three years, but a number of Southern states rejected the plan. Read more.
