Will County sheriff’s police are investigating an act of vandalism in which two swastikas were spray painted last month onto the flag of Israel, a police spokeswoman said.
The homeowner on June 13 found the black swastikas on the flag that was flying on a pole outside his house in the 12800 block of Lauffer Road in Homer Township, spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. The incident had occurred overnight, she said.
Hoffmeyer said the resident told police he had no idea who would desecrate the flag and that there were no previous threats or damage to his house.
“He did tell the (police officer) that he is not even Jewish, but does fly the flag. He did not say why he flies the flag of Israel,” Hoffmeyer said. Read more at the Chicago Tribune.
